Iraq’s Minister of Communications Visits Cairo to Strengthen International Cooperation and Expand Iraq–Egypt Market Opportunities

Iraq’s Minister of Communications, Eng. Mustafa Jabbar Sanad, is conducting an official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt as part of efforts to strengthen Iraq’s regional and international relations in telecommunications, technology, and digital transformation, and to expand cooperation with international institutions and the Egyptian side.

The visit included a meeting with the Regional Office of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Cairo, where discussions focused on developing Iraq’s national telecommunications policy in line with international standards, improving Iraq’s position in global telecommunications indicators, and expanding cooperation in capacity building, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, innovation, and advanced technologies.

This engagement forms part of Iraq’s efforts to develop its telecommunications sector in accordance with international standards and best practices, while benefiting from the technical expertise and specialized programmes provided by the ITU in telecommunications and technology development.

In a parallel track during the visit, the Iraqi delegation is holding discussions with the Egyptian side, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the relevant telecommunications authorities in Egypt to expand bilateral cooperation in telecommunications, technology, digital infrastructure, and digital transformation.

The discussions focus on creating new opportunities for Iraqi and Egyptian companies to operate in both markets, encouraging commercial, investment, and technology partnerships, and developing joint projects that strengthen business and technology flows and establish sustainable channels of cooperation between the telecommunications and technology sectors of Iraq and Egypt.

Strengthening relations between the Iraqi and Egyptian markets represents an important step toward greater regional integration in the technology sector, enabling both countries to benefit from shared capabilities and expertise while opening new pathways for companies seeking expansion, investment, and the delivery of digital solutions and services in both markets.
